Created in 2021, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is the third production of the Extraordinary Voyages Trilogy inspired by Jules Verne.
Adapting one of Verne’s most famous novels for the stage was an exciting challenge: to turn the author’s tale into a playful journey without words, developed as a pantomime.
Under the direction of Álvaro Assad, the theater space itself becomes a place of transformation, where wings, curtains, and fly systems are reinvented as elements of the submarine. Step by step, the crew and the audience discover—through the game of metatheater—how the stage can become a vast vessel, and the submarine, a curious theatrical experience.

The main scenographic element is the body of each actor, whose physical behavior creates the sense of space around them.
To produce aquatic effects and add a fantastic dimension to the characters’ adventures, the scenography plays with live video projections using miniature illustrations and tiny puppets.
